Our penultimate game of the year brought Ashmoor to Bull Point, with a win that could take us third in the table if other results went our way.

Ashmoor got off to a fortuitous start, with a mix up that allowed a quick turn over in play to make it 1-0 to Ashmoor.

We kept playing our game though and Ashmoor who only had 11 players, were visibly starting to tire as the game went on.

Some good chances and a disallowed goal on our part meant that we went in at the break with the score 1-0 to Ashmoor but our heads were definitely up and we knew what we needed to do to get back into the match.

The returning Rory Sinclair scored with a composed finish not long into the second half in his first start of the season and our breakthrough in this match.

Ashmoor heads went down at 1-1 and although we had chances, it wasn’t until Andy Hyder’s strike from a short corner not being dealt with by the Ashmoor goalkeeper that we got our noses in front for the first time.

A really unfortunate injury to an Ashmoor player stopped the game whilst he was treated, meaning Ashmoor finished the game with 10 players.

We took advantage of the extra man with Eddy Hall taking the score to 3-1 with his first goal for the club since returning to Plymouth.

The benevolent James Vine tried to give Ashmoor a goal back at the end with a pass that ended up getting him DoD, but Geoff Flowers wasn’t having any of it with a fantastic save with his outstretched hand – not for the first time in the match!

A fantastic game played in the best spirit between two talented hockey sides.
The result takes us third, with Caradon away next week the last game before the Christmas break.

We hope that the Ashmoor player who was injured has a speedy recovery and is back on the astro soon!

MoTM: Geoff Flowers – coming out quickly and saving DS on several occasions, and saving James Vine’s blushes at the end!

DoD: James Vine – as above!
