DSHC Ladies 1st Team Vs Plymouth University

So, going into today’s game against a fit and unpredictable uni side, we knew we had our work cut out, HOWEVER... with some great play all over the pitch we pulled out a 5-1 win ?? with goals from Karen, Kate, Lucy, Kayleigh and Fay.

The forwards put in a great shift up the pitch, making great runs into space and working between them to draw their defenders out creating goal scoring opportunities.

Midfield ran their asses off (some bigger than others) to assist in the attacks and drop back when needed to help the three in defence!

The three girls at the back had an absolutely cracking game. There were some class tackles and some great channeling making it difficult for the opposition to get into the D.

A true reflection of the defences hard work proved with all three gaining several MoM votes. However, today’s player of the match went to Cathy for her strength and consistency throughout the game. Laura came second in the MoM votings and Brooke third.

I (somehow?) got donkey for hitting the ball over the fence with my first touch of the game! (Despite Fay and Brooke stacking it and Sam coming off injured after 5 minutes... ?)

In spite of all the good play, I think the highlight of the day was Cathie’s curry for teas ? (thank you!!!)

Once again, a great day for DS ladies hockey! Well played girls ?
