This morning DS Ladies 2’s took on Dawlish in the glorious sunshine at Bull Point!

Our first aim today was to go out steady, without the chaos we usually start with...not sure this went entirely to plan as it felt like we ran round like headless chickens (birds) for the first few minutes. However, we soon settled down and the team started playing some awesome hockey and despite to curse of the bird from last week...we were able to score in the first half. Some great play around the top of the D lead to our first goal as the ball dropped to back post for Isla to hit the back board - her first Ladies league goal! Dawlish also had their opportunities but Hannah was able to make some fantastic saves to keep us in the lead!

The first half finish 1-0 to us! A motivating half time team talk from Brian was just what we needed to set us up for a hard graft second half.

We started the second half more determined than ever to score some goals...and that we did! Unsure of which order they came in... Michelle hit a great strike from open play which went ‘top bins’ (as real hockey players would say), Sam got her first goal of the season after some great play allowed her space to crack it in and finally, Isla decided that her goal scoring debut couldn’t just be one she got a second ??‍♀? oh and at some point Dawlish scored two goals... meh! I also got a green card at some other point...also meh!

Despite some change in personnel at the back, the defence communicated well and transferred to ball smoothly! Shout out to Becca and Meg for running their socks off in midfield as well and Talia for chasing down every ball!

MoM votes were very evenly spread this week, with their being several people tying on points!

However, the final votes were as follows:

1st: Isla
2nd: Sam and Em
3rd: Chuggy, Hannah C AND Lauren

I got unanimously voted for Donkey because I got a green card (although undeserved I’d argue) and was stood in the wrong half for a pushback after a goal (I was just overwhelmed by Michelle’s goal and got confused)!

Thank you so much to Di, Dizzy, Fred and Georgina for providing the best post match hospitality (teas were bloomin’ lovely) and the umpires for giving up their time :)

Love, OC
