It was derby day at Bull Point this Saturday afternoon with our neighbours Plymouth Marjon visiting for what would turn out to be an absolute goal fest, with the two teams sharing 10 goals.

Both teams got off to a good start with DS passing the ball well and creating opportunities, but against the run of play it was Marjon that got the breakthrough goal to put them into the lead!
We continued to play our game well and got a goal back to make the score 1-1.

We pushed on from here and soon found ourselves back on the scoresheet to make the score 2-1, at this point we really found our rhythm and quickly went 3-1 and 4-1 up respectively.

Marjon did get a goal back to make the score 4-2, but this would be the last time they would get the ball past an inspired Chris “Cerberus” Davidson, who guarded the DS goal as if it were the very gates of hell themselves.
The immoveable objects of James “Oh I remember you” Vine and John “Redacted” Brown, cleared up any loose balls with aplomb (apart from that one suicide pass…Viney)

Marjon huffed and puffed, but were not able to break down the slick system that DS had in place. James “Playing with my Pencil” Brand, Frankie “Feat. Will” Fraser, Andy “I’ll leave before fines as it’ll be a pricey one” Hyder and Dan “Did I mention I’m from South Africa?” Willis proved to be too much in the middle, with a masterclass on implementing the press on display.

Eddie “The Beast” Hall, Dom “Aslan” Lyons, John “Elenor” Rigby and….Brian, proved to be an unstoppable force causing a torrid afternoon for the Marjons defence with our ensemble cast scoring 4 more goals to take the final score to 8-2.

Notable mentions were our wingbacks, Ben “only got slightly injured today” Stoddard, James “I’m in the middle of a shift” Goodwin and Jon “don’t expect a performance like that every week” Shaw, who all put in fantastic efforts to keep the transfer alive when being pressed high, even making forays into the Marjon third.

Goals were scored Sag (1), Frankie (1), Andy (1), Eddy Hall (2) and Brian Dannan (3), I’d love to tell you all about them, but I can’t really remember… though I am told that Andy’s was an absolute worldie (By Andy).

MoTM went to Riggers, who claims he got 5 assists, whilst I can’t confirm or deny the fact, he did put in an absolute shift and showed selfless play throughout and was thoroughly rewarded with the MoTM.

DoD went to our Club Magician and Midfield Maestro Andy Hyder, who after receiving a green card from Noel, with a few small words and a wave of his stick was able to turn it into a yellow. Truly astonishing stuff.

Overall a very accomplished display, just showing how good we are when we pass and move, and I tell you what, on our best day, I’d 8-2 play against us.
