Saturday was always going to be a tough game against a Penzance team higher than us in the table but their 4 losses already this season showed us we had a chance. Devonport made a good start with an opener from Dom who uncharacteristically stroked the ball home instead of his usual smash. Penzance equalised but Frankie managed to bring us to 2-1 before half time. Devonport managed to extend the lead to 3-1 through a close range goal from Gary Chapman who stepped up from the 2s to help us out.
Penzance managed to pull things back to 3-3 capitalising on a number of errors throughout the Devonport Team though and the game was poised for an exciting end.
Luckily Devonport managed to score a winner through our captain Brian with just 5 minutes to go.
Man of the match went to sag for his fantastic forward play although his defending (or lack of) was called into question during the fines session.
Dod went to Riggers for a fully deserved green card for tripping a Penzance defender who needed to be put down.
Now we find ourselves up to 5th in the league and looking forward to one of the toughest games of the season against Taunton next week before the Christmas break
