DSHC vs Bodmin (2-2)

Despite the impending Storm Wall heading towards Plymouth, 13 brave men from the DS First Team (and two from the ladies second team!) crossed the Tamar towards the storm to take on Bodmin for a midday start.
Thankfully everyone made it to the Dragon Leisure Centre in one piece, despite Dom being held up in Subway and Jake initially heading to the Rugby club instead!
The men of DS started well, with forays into the opposition area, but ultimately it was Bodmin that struck first, or moreover it was Adrian that struck first on their behalf, turning a threatening Bodmin cross past Chris in goal who could do nothing.
DS finally got their rhythm winning several short corners and having promising attacks.
The Dom Smash wasn’t quite working with the ball holding up too much for Dom to generate the usual cannon-like velocity.
A clever bit of work from Brian (no, actually!) fed in a sliding Frankie for a fantastic finish to level up the score at the break.
DS (minus Brian) came back out in the second half no drier but with renewed vigour to put pressure on Bodmin, sadly to no avail and yet again it was Bodmin who struck from close range against a sodden Chris Davidson between the sticks.
Mr. Glassman, Ben Stodds got his token injury and sat out the second half, although in fairness to him he was run into from behind, and didn’t get a foul given!
It looked like the game was going to finish as a disappointing loss for DS until a short corner was won and we had one last chance to get an increasingly important point.
“This is it boys, now or never!” Frankie told as we huddled up.
An inject from the electric Jon Shaw to Frankie’s strong side meant he had to think on his feet, slipping the ball to Brian (who was now back on the pitch!) who rifled the ball home much to the adulation of the (two) DS fans on the side-line.
